Description: Four person capacity; cost $30.00. West Fork Butte Cabin Rental is ideal for four people. It is a 14 by 14 foot building out on a rocky knob overlooking the mountains south of Missoula. As you look to the north and to the south you will see the back of Lolo Peak. The cabin has a propane cooking stove, a wood stove, 4 metal bunks, and a gas lantern. Water must be hauled to the cabin if there is no snow to melt.Winter reservations begin in November. Access in Spring and Fall is variable. It is about 8 miles to ski or snowmobile to the cabin in the winter. Summer availability is very short term depending on the fire season. West Fork Butte Cabin Rental connects with a road network that goes from Lolo Pass to the bottom of Lolo Creek.
Directions: West Fork Butte Lookout Cabin is located 25 miles west of Lolo south of Highway 12. Take Highway 93 south of Missoula to Lolo. On the south side of Lolo is the junction with Highway 12. You can only go west. About 17 miles up Lolo Creek you will see a small brown sign for the Lolo Work Center. Take that road across the creek and turn right. The road begins there. In the winter there is parking for trailers.
